Ever Feel Like a Donkey?

Who doesn't feel like the backside of a donkey from time to time?

There's a story in Numbers the 22nd chapter that tells about Balaam and his donkey. God was angry with Balaam, but Balaam didn't know it.

Uh-oh!!!!  Has God ever been displeased with you and you weren't aware of it? Bad place to be, right?

Well, dear ole Balaam was headed in a wrong direction. God didn't want him going to the princes of Moab.  An angel of the Lord stood in the way of the donkey and the animal wouldn't budge. In fact, the donkey pressed against a wall and crushed Balaam's foot.

Well, now, guess what happened? Balaam grew furious with the donkey and beat the poor thing. Balaam urged the donkey forward, but the donkey lady couldn't go. The angel stood in the way, so she lay down with Balaam on top of her.

Good grief!  Doesn't Balaam get the message? Something must be wrong. Nope! Not him. Not yet.

Balaam beat the poor thing again. He thrashed the poor old girl three times.

After the third lashing, the donkey spoke to him. She said to Balaam, "What have I done to you to make you beat me three times?"

Now get this, Balaam answers the talking donkey! He doesn't do a double-take about his animal speaking to him. If it had been me, I'd have fainted dead away.  I don't have a Mr. Ed in the barn.

At the end of the story, Balaam sees the angel and realizes that HE is the ass in the scene.

The moral of the story for us is this: Don't be the south end of a donkey going north. Travel in the direction God plans for you. AND if an animal speaks to you this day and time, see a psychiatrist.

A Fleece, Lord, I Need a Fleece

Ever feel like you needed a sign to show you what to do?

I'm there now.

Remember Gideon? The Lord gave him instructions to deliver Israel. God also gave him signs to show ole Gideon that He, God would be with him, but Gideon remained reluctant.

Gideon basically said to God, "If You're gonna keep your promise, do this wash and dry thing. I'll place a wool fleece on the threshing floor, and it there is dew only on the fleece and the ground is dry when morning comes, then I'll know You'll be with me."

So God did as Gideon requested. He's a patient God, isn't he?

Well, the next day, the fleece was wet and the ground dry.

"Okay, God, just one more request. "This time do the opposite. Make the fleece dry and ground wet."

If I'd been the Lord, I'd probably say, "Gideon, you silly, faithless man, I'll find another who can do the job."

Not God. Sure enough, God answered Gideon. He kept the wool dry and made the ground wet.

Gideon was the Show Me Warrior. He wouldn't obey until he had proof.

Sometimes we face crossroads and we'd like to put a fleece before God. He may work that way this day and time with some, but I've never had Him show me with signs in my life. So I pray and ask for guidance, then make a decision.

I'm praying right now and waiting for direction. I don't have any sheep to shear, so I'll just watch and pray for God to lead. I think He prefers me to step out on faith anyway. You know, the kind of faith that doesn't require signs? Just simple trust.

The Clydesdales Are Coming!

Click on the link to see someone's idea of the top ten best Budweiser commercials. Some are Clydesdale commercials and they are my fav.  The one that brings tears to my eyes is number 10. The team of horses bow down with the Statue of Liberty in the background. It's a tribute to 9/11.

Here's another site

Cydesdales only

Here's another of my favorite Super Bowl commercials. This one brings tears too. You'll hear Paul Harvey on this one.

A Farmer

Let's see what today brings.  Who do you want to win?  I have no favorite team, but I look forward to the commercials. I just hope the creators of these commercials won't be political. The sweet and funny ones are the ones we remember.

Poopty doopty! The game is over and I didn't see the Clydesdale teams. Major disappointment.. I didn't enjoy most of the commercials this year. Did you?

How about those Patriots? They won in overtime.

Good game but no Clydesdales.
